Justis NewsAnother half century of Scottish law only on Justis20th November 2009
Justis now plays exclusive electronic host to the Session Cases, 1821 – 1872. Following arrangements with the Scottish Council of Law Reporting, we have digitized their important historic collection for the first time ever, and it is now live on our service. Session Cases take precedence over all other case law in Scotland. The series offers all decisions reported in full, checked and revised by presiding judges before publication, from all the key appellate decisions, civil and criminal, from Court of Session and High Court of Justiciary in Scotland. As a “mixed” legal system, Scotland’s law is of wide ranging practical and academic interest in all jurisdictions in a similar mould and beyond; and along with the established Scottish data on our service – which already surpasses the competition by decades – these archive cases on Justis offer users: the first and only electronic repository of this material; intuitively searchable cases in convenient replica PDF format for court use; and searches that, if required, can be combined with other relevant Justis material. The new archive – the equivalent of over 50 volumes and 60,000 pages – is available outright, with unlimited access, on a perpetual licence basis. Or yearly subscriptions can be purchased. Either way, it can be added to any existing Session Cases subscription. Clarification of this competitive pricing model and details of the complete series can be found on our product information page.
