Justis expands into international law

27th March 2008

Justis Publishing has signed an agreement with Cambridge University Press (CUP) to electronically publish the entire back catalogue and future editions of the International Law Reports. The exclusive deal will make the Reports, which go back to 1919, available in a fully-searchable online format for the first time.

Professor Christopher Greenwood CMG QC, one of the Reports’ general editors, said: “International law nowadays impacts on the legal system of every country in the world. It’s therefore particularly important that decisions on international law are widely accessible. The partnership with Justis will achieve that”.

CUP’s Editorial Director for Law, Finola O’Sullivan, agreed, adding: “Cambridge has been searching for the right external electronic law publishing partner for some time now and we are confident that Justis offers the best platform for the product”.

Masoud Gerami, Managing Director of Justis Publishing, welcomed both their comments and highlighted such areas as intellectual property and patent law amongst the many that interest legal professionals worldwide. “We believe that this collection sits perfectly alongside our key UK and European legislation and case law titles”, he said, “and its availability on Justis will give practitioners a powerful tool.” He added that winning the exclusive rights to publish the Reports electronically on Justis in preference to other mainstream online services was a sign of the key role that the company plays in the legal information dissemination market.

A sample data set will be available for browsing on the CUP stand at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) in Washington DC from 9th to 12th April.
